Well, im back from Albany. And i had an absolute ball. The drive down there and back was a small slice of hell but i managed to get through it without turning too savage.

It was hot and sunny when we arrived and we took to the beach very quickly. Its very easy to get sunburnt down at Cheynes beach because of the constant gusts of strong winds.
I got a little burnt on random spots on my back and i forgot to put suncream on the back of my leg and so was wandering around camp with a big red patch of burn on my leg for the rest of the week!

The first two days were sunny and gorgeous. Then the weather spat the dummy. As you may have heard on the radio or the news, the coast of Albany was hit by a cyclone. Fortunately we only suffered the tail of the cyclone. The constant rain fall and even stronger winds meant that we weren't able go to the beach. There was no beach! The water had risen right up to the sandunes.

So the rest of the week was wet and wild. But the weather did not deter me from having fun. Hell, i was on holiday for the first time in a year and dammit i wanted to have fun!

My mum and I hit the town a couple of times. Of course this meant an hours drive.
The old part of the town is absolutely gorgeous. On our way back from town, we passed a small place. The front lawn part was dotted with scary rusted metal sculptures. We made the very large mistake of stopping at this place. The sign boasted to have tea rooms and a library. Well, we arrived inside and it turned out to be a very small shop with a selection of two cakes and a solitary, lonely and soggy looking meat pie. My mum ordered a hot chocolate. She received a Milo and was charged fifty extra cents because the weird old lady used milk. We couldn't get out of there quick enough.

I managed to get a hold of the My Chemical Romance album during one of the trips to town. I am currently very obsessed with it and the boys in the band.

During our stay, we also visited my Aunty Simone. We see them once in a blue moon and i was very excited. We made the hour and a half trip up to her farm and i got to see her house for the very first time. Absolutely brilliant. A big ole farm house which my uncle built himself. This house was the picture of what i think every house should be like. A Big airy kitchen, not all modernized, lots of color and creative touches. For my cousins, Leven, Cody and Josh a room exists out the back where they can go and just hang out. This room was awesome and i felt rather jealous. It was like their own little abode, complete with a HIYUGE television, a play station and games ect. And to complete the picture, they own two dogs; Mimi and Bear. Mimi reminded rather of a miniature pig with her grunting and snuffles and i loved her to bits. Bear was a little scary at first big really a big softy.

After seeing the house and such, my Aunty took us out to see all the tourist attractions. The Gap, The museum, the bird park, The Amity and the Albany wind farm. The Gap was the windiest place on EARTH. But very cool and vaguely daunting. The wind farm was a fabulous. Also very windy. I went to the peak of a hill and was almost blown off! The Bird park was pretty cool. The have some bizarre birds in there. One that would hoot at you, one that liked to run around with a tin can on its head ect ect.
The really scary thing is that we saw more of Albany in one day with my aunty Simone than we did in a week with my other aunty!

Back at camp, by day, the main activity was just hanging around but but night, all us kids congregated at the playground. This was the hot spot. i made some great friends in Albany

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”-Nelson Mandela
